Paris, France. What a city! I am going to give you a quick run through of my first month here. My flight from Barcelona to Paris was easy peasy lemon squeezy. It was a quick two hour flight to Charles De Gaulle airport. I was so relieved to finally start my study abroad program. While I loved backpacking in Spain and Italy, having a place to call "home" for a while was a great feeling. First we were taken to a hotel to spend the night before meeting the host families. Meeting the other participants was like being back in school again. It was like "Hey, I'm (insert name here), I go to (insert university here) and I'm majoring in (insert major(s) here)" Little did I know that these people would become my best friends for the next two months. We bonded right off the bat. That night a group of us went to get Pho ( yeah I know, Pho? that's super french) and walked around for a bit. After returning back to the hotel and watching a little bit of french kickboxing, we called it a night. The next day was interesting... did I mentioned I have a roommate? I have to say that I am the luckiest person in the world to be paired up with Hanna. She is the sweetest, nicest, most aggressively great person in the world. We were picked up by our host sister and taken to the place we called home for the next two months. It is in a beautiful urban area. I literally lived across the street from the national library. Our host family is the nicest, most intelligent people I have ever met. I can, from the bottom of my heart, say that I had the best host family, lived in one of the nicest areas of Paris and had the coolest roommate possible. I am just a very blessed person. The first week was the adjusting period. We did touristy things such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Champs-Élysées etc. We had our first excursion that first Friday in Chantilly where we saw a beautiful château there and lovely gardens. The following week we started school. Oh my lanta... school was something else. I realized that I really suck at French. But it just made me want to learn the language that much more. The month of June, I took 21 hours of french a week. It was a lot of class and I loved it. My classmates were legit and my teacher was super adorable. June was a month killer. We visited the Loire Valley during one of the weekends. I loved the Loire Valley. There were so many castles. You can feel the history when you walk through the stone walls. I will definitely go back again someday. But nothing compared to being in the capitol city. We explored the city almost everyday. Paris is magical. There was always something going on. As we explored, our friendship bonds grew stronger. I couldn't have asked for better people to be around. All in all, June was exhilarating. It was school, walk around Paris, embarrass myself when talking to my host family, hang with my friends until it got late, sleep little and repeat. I wouldn't have done it any other way. I will leave some pictures of the crew, Paris and all that good stuff.
